Arts Climb 2012

Mt. Kilimanjaro is composed of 3 volcanic peaks: Mawenzi and Shira, which are extinct; and Kibo peak, which is dormant. Kibo last erupted 200 years ago.
People have asked me how far I am willing to go to support school art programs.
Answer: 19,341 feet in altitude, to be exact!
In July of 2012, I will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for the FEAE.
I will spend eight days trekking up the 4th highest mountain in the world, and keeping our supporters informed of my progress via our facebook and twitter pages. I will also be posting daily videos to this website via youtube so that you can follow along with my experiences from the comfort of your computer screen.
This will not be my first high altitude mountain trek, but it will be the highest climb I have attempted so far. My current record is 14,279 feet. I am thrilled to be able to do something I enjoy while bringing attention and funding to an important cause. My personal goal for Arts Climb 2012 is to raise $5,000 to provide the financial overhead for program improvements such as smartboards, art history resources, and photoshop licenses.
Art isn't simply important education; it is education.
Art is the gymnasium of the mind, body, and spirit.
It is the place where we can totally address every element of ourselves; it doesn't
matter what the content is."
